Gníomhaíochtaí Fónaice
Use these phonics activities to practice spellings in English and Irish.
Rainbow spellings:
Children work in pairs for this activity. One child thinks of a word and draws small lines to represent each letter. The other child guesses the letters. If they get a letter right, they circle the letter below the rainbow and the other child adds it to the correct place in the word. If they get it wrong, they put an 'x' through the letter below the rainbow and trace a dotted line on the rainbow. The winner is the person who guesses the most amount of correct words without filling up the rainbow.
Pop-It Phonics:
Can be played individually or in pairs. They write the word, make it using magnetic letters, find the letters in the box and finally pop the letters on the poppit to spell the word!
